Although unlikely, Windows might be trying to uninstall the default driver.
To resolve this, please
Configure the OS Not to Update the Drivers Automatically, and then try uninstalling the driver.
If the issue persists, please
Boot in Safe Mode and try again.
You may also want to temporarily disable the
Windows Update service in the
Services.msc snap-in, uninstall the driver, boot in Safe Mode, go to
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, remove all its contents, and then try installing the driver again.
