So i just did a clean install of windows 7 64bit onto my new motherboard, its a asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 and ive installed all of windows updates, and drivers, ive installed all the drivers that came with my mobos disc, and the realtek hd audio driver isnt showing up as an audio device, its neither in my device manager or control panel, ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times and tried updating the driver and it still isnt working, i made sure the on board audio is enabled through my bios to, but nothing ive tried has worked, i went into dev manager and viewed through "connections" and i think its showing up as HD audio controller but thats it, i tried updating, uninstalling it but its not working, even updating my bios to the latest version, im running sli gtx 460's if that helps, please get back to me its very frustrating, both the front and rear jacks arent working :/

Solution
Hello... Asus has other Sound options with their MB's, would suggest contacting them, maybe a error has happened on their end like wrong BIO's flash/install, or a faulty run of MB's.
Hello... http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false You could have a bad MB with the realtek chip... are you saving your changes to the BIO's after enabling the azalia? have you checked to see if you have nothing touching/shorting/grounding out your realtek chip/inputs/connections? un-plug your front audio connection headers... were there any physical, motherboard bending, diffulcuties during your MB build or placement in your case? take your MB back out of the case and try the build on the cardboard box it was sent to you in.

Yea in the BIOS it says that the audio is enabled, but its not showing up anywhere else, it seems like the installs are not doing anything is there any way to manually extract the files to where theyre supposed to go? i havent checked the mobo yet but im going to

Hello... the Realtek drivers are Rock lock and Load, solid programmed drivers... no extra effort is needed... if windows doesn't see the "Hardware" then the BIO's is not reporting the hardware to Windows... reflash Bio's if the "out of case and headers wiring is checked". Did you change many default Bio's settings?

GeForce GTX 460 includes internal sound over HDMI. In Windows 7, select Start -> Control Panel -> Sound.
On the Playback tab, see if your HDMI audio from the video card is set as default. Since you have multiple audio devices, the Windows control panel is where to manage them.

i just checked mobo everything looks good, and i disabled the audio from my 460 cause i thought it might do something but nope, im running the hdmi to my monitor, it doesnt have speakers, im trying to play audio through the rear jack to my sound system but i cant get it work or show up

does your speakers appear at all working plug in your system speakers just place a youtube video watch the volume bar and see if the bar jumps if it jumps sound is being passed to speakers and the audio needs to be fixed

go threw control panel .... hardware and sound.... manage audio devices play the music see which bar jumps and choose that one as your default sound should play threw. I had this issue with a lower end board the 970 asus
