Realtek HD Audio Output

Hello,
My Acer Aspire 3690 laptop stopped making sound. I troubleshot everything and I think it is hardware related. I need to replace it, but haven't got a clue how to find what I need. The fact that I live on a little island in the South Seas makes it more complicated. There is a person here who is capable of installing it, but I need to buy the part.

Make sure you uninstall old version first.

hi I did go onto the Acer site and downloaded a newer version of the driver
I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition
I think I am dealing with a dead hardware unit, and need to know what exact physical type of unit I would need to buy to have it replaced. I assume it is called a "sound card"..? thanks for your help
