Hello All,
I seem to be having a problem with my audio system. Before I say anything, my system specs:
Mobo: ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68
Audio: Realtek HD Audio, version 6.0.1.6873 (latest)
On my motherboard I have six audio jacks:
1)front speaker out
2)line in
3)mic in
4)rear speaker in
5)side speaker in
6)center OR subwoofer out
I have the Polk PSW10 Subwoofer, powered subwoofer with NO LFE. My speakers are the Bose Companion 2, Series III multimedia speaker system. Now I can get sound to play out of both the subwoofer and the speakers without using a receiver. I hook up my subwoofer using an RCA to 3.5 mm cable, run it directly into the orange sub port in my onboard audio panel. I hook up my speakers through the green front speakers out.
The issue is this:
My subwoofer will not produce sound unless I turn on these settings on the speaker configuration page:
1)Speaker fill
2)Enable bass management
And this setting under room correction:
3)Room correction enabled>decibel level to +10 for subwoofer
Now I do get sound from the subwoofer but it is definitely not the same sound that I get from the subwoofer when it is playing through the front speaker out input (which I used to split with a headphone splitter, allowing me to plug in speakers and a subwoofer into one input). The sub sounds weak, distorted and not defined. I would not consider myself a full blown audiophile but I definitely can recognize decent sound when I hear it. I am not hearing it, not through the subwoofer that is.
I will admit that I do not know much about powered subwoofers, this Polk is my third subwoofer, although I consider my first “real” one since it has been the first one that rocks the house decently. It also is the first one that came independently, not accompanied by speakers, and not explicitly designed for a PC.
So my question:
1)How do I get this subwoofer to produce its wonderful bass without turning on speaker fill, bass management and room correction? Those just seem like patches.
