Hello,

I have an Asus Prime Z390-A motherboard using the onboard Realtek audio with Windows 10 Pro 20H2 build 19042.867. Until recently I've used the analog audio outputs with no problems. However, I just got a new set of powered speakers with digital S/PDIF input and connected them using the digital output. This works fine mostly, except I get a soft popping sound whenever any sound starts playing and a few seconds after it stops playing. I've experienced similar issues in the past with digital audio on home theater equipment. It happens when the digital PCM audio stream starts & stops. For this reason, some apps (e.g. Kodi comes to mind) generate a constant "silent" output even when there's no audio playing just to keep the PCM stream active and prevent popping. On Windows, however, I have no idea how to fix this issue. Does anyone know?

Thanks,
cinergi
