Realtek LAN Red Cross sign out of nowhere

My Mobo's Lan port suddenly stopped working out of nowhere. I have a Mi Router 3c and the connection comes from its lan port. I checked on my laptop and its working fine. I tried installing new drivers from gigabyte website but to no avail. Anyone please help. It was working fine a minute ago and now after a restart after a hour its gone kaput 🙁
Mobo is a Gigabyte GA 78lmt usb3 rev 6.0

Open device manager, select from Network Adapters the Ethernet device in question, right click and uninstall the driver. Then re-install the latest LAN driver from Gigabyte or by using the automatic driver download in windows. Try a different Ethernet cable. Is there activity lights on the motherboards I/O that flash green or orange? If not and none of the above fixes the issue it's likely that your motherboard's LAN port has died. If that's the case you could buy and install a PCI-E Ethernet card or a Wi-Fi adapter.

Component failure can have many causes - - power surges from lightning-strikes etc isn't the only one.

Electronics die with no warning whatsoever. It is also possible that there was a spike/surge that killed the port. Your board is cheap and nasty and is probably of quite an age at this point in time, am I right? Invest in a quality board if you need reliability, you get what you pay for..

Sucks to hear man, hopefully I've helped you with your problem! If you install an Ethernet PCI-E card you'll hopefully gain network access once again.

It was likely not caused by a lightning strike, and unless you invest in a decent adapter and have optimal Wi-Fi conditions where your PC is then you're better off going for the cheaper and more reliable option; the Ethernet PCI-E card.

My wifi router is just above my pc so I am good with it.

Got a cheap 5$ 10/100 ethernet card.

If you reverse ports at the router and it makes no difference, have you tried a new LAN cable from rotuer to the MB, just to rule out the obvious? (It would be a shame to condemn/accept that the MB's LAN port as being bad prematurely..., but, MB LAN ports do fail ...once a decade...)
