We lost sound on our month-old Pavilion that has the RealTek on-board sound
hardware. All software settings are correct and indicate that it's working
correctly, and it's not the speakers because I can't get sound if I plug
headphones into the front-panel jack either.
I'm going to try to contact HP support about this of course, but I'm
wondering what they can do. Sending the PC back is out of the question since
we have so many software packages installed that it takes weeks to get
everything configured right and I'm certainly not sending it back with my
Quicken data, etc. on it!
I'm hoping that they'll just offer to send a PCI sound card to bypass the
problem. If not, then I suppose I'll just buy one myself since they're a lot
cheaper than what my time's worth to go through a system shipping & swap-out
hassle. Anyone had experience with getting a motherboard-related problem
like this fixed?
