Rear Outtake Computer Fan Problems

Last night I noticed my rear outtake fan was slowing down and making pretty loud noises and I still haven't found out what the problem is.
Here are my specs,
Motherboard : ASRock m3A770DE
CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955e @ 3.2 Ghz
PSU : Corsair GS800w

The fan slows down and makes a loud thumping sound when booting up, but after about 5 minutes it'll go back to normal speed and will be quiet. I'm not sure if this only happens when booting up or not though. I don't really know too much about what's happening so any help would be appreciated.

Solution
yeah once its run for a few minutes the bearing will be tight enough to do its job.
Yes fans can be used either way round ,just take note on which side the label is in the centre of the intake fan and install it the other way round as an exhaust.

Is that why it only does it on boot up? Also, if I had an extra front intake fan could I use that as in exhaust fan somehow?

Well, thanks for the help. So, is there anyway I can salvage my computer fan with the bearings problem?

In some situations you can drip oil into the bearing to quieten it but this is generally a short term solution and I think your fan may be too far gone for that.
New fans are pretty inexpensive so its not normally worth attempting a repair.
