Hi everyone. I recently bought the parts for a gaming pc. I put it all together the other night and have spent the better part of yesterday attempting to install windows 10 from a bootable usb drive. I have a gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-a motherboard and I am attempting to boot from a Sandisk Cruzer Glide 32gb usb drive. Whenever I try to boot I sometimes get the gigabyte logo screen, sometimes not, but the machine always goes to the screen with the message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media in selected boot device and press any key." I have been searching through the forums for help, I have set the Sandisk usb drive as priority #1 for booting and I still get the same error - perhaps I am not setting it at the priority properly?

One curious thing that may or may not be useful is when I go to the boot menu at startup, even when the Sandisk is selected as priority 1 in BIOS, it is still listed second to the hard drive in the boot menu. Not sure if this is significant but figured I would include it.

If anyone has any insight on my problem - especially specific to my MOBO I greatly appreciate it. This is my first build and I'm learning as I go. Thanks in advance!

That would be great. If you can post a pic of your bios that would be awesome as well. They do have a bios update that might give you more control over the UEFI. It was posted on 2015/08/10

I think your OSX is making the USB partition in GPT which is compatible for macs, but Windows doesn't like it if UEFI is not enabled. If you have access to a PC it would be very simple. All you would need to do is download the media creation tool.

Have you tried pushing "F12" to pull up boot options instead of going through the bios, and manually select the USB drive? Did you make the Windows 10 installation from the Media Creation Tool?

If your making it from a OSX, you will need to make sure you are booting UEFI.

In F12 or in the bios, it should list your USB drive twice in most cases one will have UEFI: beside it, like in the image below.

Everything looks set correctly to me. I see you have "UEFI & Legacy Mode" selected under boot mode selection, which is good. Can you pop the USB drive into your mac, and just confirm the files copied over? It's almost like the drive is blank.

That will make it much easier. The big problem you face with bootcamp, is the partition it creates is for mac. Using the Windows 7 laptop, and you will be good to go.

Here is the link to the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

It will format your USB drive with the correct NTFS partition as well.

Awesome man. Glad you got everything worked out. If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back.

God Bless, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving bro!
