This is my first time building my PC, and I have had alot of trouble, but now that I'm almost done and I keep getting the same error upsets me.

Every time I try to boot up my built PC to my monitor, no matter what it always in the end goes to "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

I looked up the issue on the internet, but none of the solutions have really helped me. I don't have an ODD because when I was building my PC alot of people told me I didn't really need it. I was also told that my motherboard could possibly have it installed. I'm trying to run Windows 8, but no matter what I do it says the same message after resetting.

I have no clue what to do. I've been trying to install Windows 8 on to a computer that doesn't have an ODD because I was told I didn't need one, but if there's anything you need to know to help me out, I can provide.

Thanks!

It appears you have access to a pc. Good.
You will need your windows 8 key and a 4gb or bigger usb flash drive> Please note that anything on the flash drive will get erased doing this so backup anything important.
When you have both ready , connect the flash drive and then navigate to this Microsoft link and click the "create media" button. This will create your bootable flash drive.

Once the media creates your bootable flash drive take it and connect it to your pc.
When you turn on the pc, press the F-key that corresponds to "Select Boot Drive" or "Boot Options"
When the boot list appears, navigate to the proper install option. For an old bios based motherbd it will be your usb drive but for a newer UEFI motherbd (has a graphical mouse operated bios) you want the UEFI: USB Flash drive option.
Once you boot the right option then the rest of the install remains the same as in the past.
USB install is much faster so with a good flash drive its only about 10 minutes long.
Enjoy.

Thanks, but where do I get a Windows 8.1 key at? I've looked all over but can't find/purchase one.
