ok this is getting a little too ridiculous now. just finished building my 650 dollar computer and no optical drive cause those are useless. i take the contents from the windows 7 disc then make it into an iso and put it on a flash drive. put the flash drive into the new pc and yes flash drive is 1st boot priority but it keeps saying reboot and select proper boot device every time. i tried putting the flash drive into my laptop and launching from the usb device but nothing for windows 7 even comes up it justs loads the computer up normally. i also looked into the windows 7 usb/dvd download tool and it says that the iso is supposedly invalid. yes all usb ports are working so thats not a problem. this obviously isnt supposed to be happening and i dont know what to do to fix it. its not an easy fix.

Solution
Hello... http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/a/install-windows-7-usb.htm

1) You must first Format a USB stick partition Over 2 gb as Fat32 and check mark "make Bootable" then copy the ISO file to it.
Your computer BIO's is telling you it cannot find a "BOOTABLE device" or read any Bootable files on it.

2) I have found some ISO versions that only work to make/burn DVD's... and you may have that Type. B (
Right click the ISO on your Laptop to see what options it gives you instead of using the "WIN7 Tool" app.

3) Using your laptop... You may have to first BURN a DVD with the ISO... and then use the "WIN7 Tool" app to convert the DVD ISO to a USB "Bootable" ISO device.
1.Burn the ISO to a USB using a program called rufus and try again.

2.Go into your bios settings
Move to the advanced tab
Press enter on usb configuration
Enable legacy usb support

Go to the boot tab, set the usb device as #1 priority
Save settings and reboot

Try downloading a different iso because it seems like the iso is corrupt.

hHave a look here

This bit is to make the bootable usb

if this does work will i have to enter a product key? cause i dont have one of those

Hello... Yes... Always with a Windows install media.
Think... like owning more than one car... you need plates for each of them... B )
But all Microsoft software has a trial period... typically 30 days or longer... Try before you buy would help you get your New machine Parts tested out.

1) I feel you have no experience at making a "BOOT" disk or USB stick... and the first step is to learn how to do that... either with Windows or Rufus... They are basic DOS OS that loads into your Memory... allowing files/disks/Commands and programs to be run.
2) Then after that it is extracting the ISO file to that USB stick... it's really pretty easy and should be something you should learn how to do in these modern times without DVD drives in the computers.

ok but i have a disc so isnt the product key on the disc??????

Hello... No... the Disks are mass produced and identical... and so are the ISO's.
They supply a Sticker/Hologram in the DVD case with OEM/Retail Key on it. That is designed to be applied to to your Computer/Case.
Using your Disk will allow you 30 days to supply a Valid Key for it.

so your telling me that if i decided to just buy an optical drive and TRY an install from the CD i wont have windows 7 forever

Hello... We all wont have windows 7 forever... B ) But why would we want THAT!!!

But what i'm telling you is THIS...

Using your laptop... You may have to first BURN a ISO with the DVD... and then use the "WIN7 Tool" app to convert the DVD ISO to a USB "Bootable" ISO device... and Not have to buy a Optical drive, to complete a install.
You have 30 days to supply a KEY or your desktop back ground will go black... and many other features will be disabled.
