Reboot and select proper boot device

I just built my computer and when I unplug the hard drive my computer post but when I plug it in it sends me to reboot and select proper boot device. I've tried to get into the bios to configure my hdd but my keyboard lights up and works after it says that message. There's almost no way to get into the bios with my hard drive plugged in. What do I do?????? I will choose best answer.

Try another sata port.

What do you need to configure for your hard drive? What's on that drive?
If it's with OS from another PC with different motherboard (different chipset), you'll need to reinstall.
