Hello there THW.

I've been having this problem "Reboot or insert proper boot device," for about a week now, and i can't find a solution for it. I've tried everything and all tips i could find on all forums, nothing just seems to work. - it's driving me insane.

When i go to the BIOS, it says it is booting from the right device (My SSD). i've tried to reset the BIOS to default setting, which it already were. I've restarted my computer 50+ times now, but nothing works.

I'm thinking my SSD is broke, but what do you guys think?

I USE
- Motherboard Z77A - G43
- Intel core i7 3770k
- Nvidia GTX 770
- OCZ-Vertex 4 SSD
- Seagate external HDD

I am using windows 7. the computer is about 3 - 4 years old. I'm not that much of a tech guy, so i don't want to move around to much inside the computer, all i know is, that's i've tried to unplug the SSD from my computer, and set it back in, it still wouldn't work. It worked for a couple of days ago, and i've never had any trouble before that.

I bought the computer from one of my good friends, who only had it for about 1 year. And nothing was wrong with it before that. It cannot be a virus, since i've got ESET NOD 32, MalwareBytes and Ccleaner all paid versions.. :/

A virus won't cause the issue.

1) go into your BIOS, and under boot options or something you will be able to highlight the drive. Do so and press enter - this will ensure that you are booting to the correct drive.
2) remove all drives and USBs except the boot SSD.
3) please try this multiple times - like 8 or something. Sounds silly but I had this problem and I don't know why, but it booted after about 6 to 8 goes, I can't remember. Wiggle the connectors between each try too. Obviously power down the system between retries, don't just hit enter again and again.

I've already tried that many times, it won't work. I tried to startup the system with an HDD a friend gave me, just to test it all out, that worked fine. For me it seems like the SSD is broken, but i don't know?
