Hello new friends,

I am looking to Frankenstein my Sony Vaio VGC RA826G for some serious grunt work instead of my laptop VPCSE2EFX. Starting with removal of GPU in the PCIE x16 for an Areca 1210, and installing a Zotac Nvidia GeForce GT 430 or 610.

So my question is will the video cards for PCI slot work on my mobo with my PSU and cpu?
Also will having a PCI X raid controller in the PCIE x16 allow my system to use it better than onboard raid? I'm hoping to get 3gbps with my sata II and Hoping not to be throttled in MHz.
Thank you,
Zaawwmbie

Specs from VGC RA826G
Intel Pentium 4 550
Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
(3.40E GHz1, 1MB L2 Cache)
800mhz FSB
Intel 915P
ASUS PTGD-VX
3gb DDR 400mhz 512x2 1gbx2
Windows 7 32bit
ATI RADEON x600 XT 256mb
PSU 364.7 W
3m Maxtor 250gb 6mb cache
3 500gb WD AV-GP 32mb ready for raid 5 (hopefully based on raid controller)

Ohhh, wow thats going back a few years..

No you cannot use a card like that in a PCI express slot, its a different standard. You would need a PCI-express raid card.
Only that this is a full sized PCI X card probably for a server that I'm wondering if it will be able to fit into a PCI x16/GPU card slot. Just looking for max MHz from the card so if I set to raid my drives I can get 3gbs instead of 1.5gbs
