Hello, I would like to re-do my old HP pavilion but want to keep the functioning features of the case, like the USB and audio ports on the front, the memory card reader, the optical drive, the current graphic card, the new 500W power supply.
Here is what I have and and would like to save, they are built into the case;
;
-SuperMulti DVD Burner with LightScribe Technology 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+R DL, 8x DVD-R DL, 12x DVD-RAM, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CDR, 32x CDRW, 40x CD-ROM
-Front panel 15-in-1 memory card reader: supports SmartMedia, xD, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital (SD), Mini Secure Digital, Compact Flash I, Compact Flash II, IBM Microdrive, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo, RSMMC, MMC Mobile, MMC+
-EVGA GeForce GT 440 1024 MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1441-KR that I replaced the old card with as the fan that was a replacement from HP, would not stop running and was annoying.
I also have a 500W power supply I had to recently add as the old one burned out in an electrical storm even with a surge protector.
I was thinking of the following improvements;
- Intel Core i3-3220 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ...
-ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
OR
-ASRock Z77 Extreme3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
- Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM
-CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9
-Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM
So my question is, do you know if the motherboard will work with this older case with the items i was thinking of purchasing? This computer will mainly be used for internet and office/home work like documents, Excel. No gaming, little to no media except occasional YouTube type videos.
Thank you for your input...had no problems building a gaming computer from scratch, but this rebuild is hard to get started.
