Hello everyone I have recently built a new computer from basically scratch. The only things I am transplanting from an older rig are a 2tb hard drive and a power supply. I do have one question though before I buy a new OS for the new rig. I knows since I am transplanting the hard rive I need a new OS and cant use the one that came factory installed on my older Dell rig so I am looking into getting Win 7 because I have always been fond of it over other microsoft operating systems. Since I already have windows 7 installed on the HDD I was wondering if I use a refurbished OS such as "Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit, System Builder OEM DVD 1 Pack (For Refurbished PC Installation)" will work. People say in the reviews that its not intended for a clean reformat but works well on a rig or HDD that has already had Win 7 on it. Or if I should just pay a bit extra for "Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit DVD + Genuine Product Key". I have also seen products that offer a registration key and digital download through e-mail. I am not sure what will be best for a HDD that has been transplanted into a new rig. Thanks

For Windows 7, you can't buy 'just a product key' anymore. Microsoft stopped that when Win 8 was released.

From what you are looking at at Amazon, is that actual Amazon, or an "Amazon reseller"? It makes a difference.

Anyway...links to buy Windows 7:
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Premium-System-Builder-Packaging/dp/B00H09BB16
Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416806&cm_re=windows_7-_-32-416-806-_-Product

The "Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit DVD + Genuine Product Key" I was looking at is through Amazon. I knew I needed a new registration key and since I already have a Windows 7 home premium 64 bit with SP 1 Disk I thought I may be able to scrape by with just purchasing a new registration key. Of course since Win 7 is a bit older I can not find a way to purchase a registration key through microsoft.com. Does anyone know of a legit website where I can purchase just a product key? Of course e-bay has them left and right but I don't trust that they are valid/ legit/ or not already used. I also can not find them on any of the websites USAFRet listed.

EDIT: http://www.tek-micro.com/products.php?product=MS-Windows-7-Home-Prem--32%7B47%7D64--Bit-Download-Version
I found this website and it seems legit. Has anyone had experience with Tek-micro?

Thanks USAFRet. The amazon link you offered was the item I was looking at. It seems I am just going to have to pay a little extra then I originally assumed but I guess if I dont want any complications down the line that is going to be the best bet. Thanks again for your assistance in this matter.
