Hi all,

Recently my Windows started running into a some errors and trouble so I reset (full format) my PC yesterday and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home downloaded from the Microsoft website. Some issue like 100% disk load have been resolved, but some errors still remain.

1) Windows Update Errors
I am facing issues with some of the June updates
KB5003254: Download error - 0x80070002
KB5004476: Install error 0x8007000d
My Windows update troubleshooter detects an error but seems like it is unable to fix it.
2) Disk Error
I recently started getting a disk error message. My only hard disk is about 3 years old and it is a Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD. Occasionally Windows scans my hard drive upon boot or it shows me notification to scan and fix drive upon restart.

3)App Crash
Some apps randomly crash, take time to open up or throw an error and do not open up at all. I did a troubleshoot of this too.
My PC was running fine until 3 days back and I made no changes to my PC or Windows except for installing a few Windows updates. Windows fails to roll back the updates and I do not have any restore point either. Kindly help me fix this.

Thanks and regards,
Nithish S

try running this on hdd - https://www.seagate.com/au/en/support/downloads/seatools/seatools-win-master/

shouldn't be problems right after install
right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth and press enter

SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

Hi Colif,

I installed SeaTools from the link you provided, but the app does not open at all. I tried opening it after a reboot too, but it does not open.

As for the SFC command, it fails at 43% verification. I tried the command twice, and both times it failed at 43%. I have attached the screenshot. Kindly provide additional help.

Thank you.

hmm, don't suppose you can put hdd into another pc and scan it?

Your windows install is broken, if sfc & other command won't even run, its pretty bad.
the service mentioned in your post - BITS - is used for windows update so it matches up with the other errors.

Did install go smooth? no hiccups?

Need to check hdd is okay before I would try to put windows on it. It could be the problem.

Hi Colif,

I do not have any other PC at home to scan my HDD. I try to manually start BIT service and it shows 'running', but after a couple of minutes it just stops running. My install seemed to go smooth without any issues. However, issues crept in after subsequent app installation and windows updates. I will see if anything can be done to check my HDD status.

Thank you.

how did you do your "fresh" install? You need to do this if you have not.

Hi Mandark,

I went about the installation process, almost the exact same way as mentioned in the link you have shared. The only additional step I did was to delete all existing partitions, format the drive and let Windows create fresh partition based on its need. Any suggestion on 'what next'?

Thank you.

looks to me it was Yesterday
Hi Colif,

Yes, my fresh install was done yesterday in the same way as mentioned in the link sent by Mandark. There were no issues initially. Issues developed once I installed windows updates, downloaded a few apps and a game I had earlier.

Thank you.

See if you can run this

this might work, it runs off USB - http://hddguru.com/software/2006.02.10-Magic-Boot-Disk/

or maybe https://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

but you probably need another pc to make these on as I wouldn't trust yours right now.
