Hello all,

I recently graduated with a B.S. in Supply Chain Management, and I've begun developing interest in acquiring IT certifications. I have brief experience in project management from working in the IT dept. at a nearby hospital corporation along with work experience to get me through college 😛.

Anyways, I was seeking some advice as to what approach one would recommend for getting entry level certs. Would one recommend a two-year community college, or are there online workshops/programs to assist in prepping for an exam that one could recommend?

As of right now I've been reading a textbook to prep for the Comptia A+ certification for starters.
Are there any certs that you guys would recommend for an IT position?

If you're looking for training resources keep these two sites in mind.

They provide good training videos for the majority of IT courses. I found them both very helpful when studying for my MCSA.

They both give free trials so worth at least checking out. Also, the subscription is monthly so you can just cancel it once your course is passed.
I would honestly just self study for entry level certs like CompTIA A+, N+, L+ and the MCDST for instance, I passed all of them by just purchasing a book on each. What certs I would recommend are dependent on what area you want to go in, there are specific forums that helped me a lot but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link them here.

Thanks for the quick turnaround reply. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it financially to shell out hundreds of dollars toward a CCL in a computer certification offered by a local community college or to self study for the certs myself.

Yeah, it's definitely worth saving up and investing in some training when you get to the mid-high tier certs (MSCE, CCNA etc...), the labs are absolutely invaluable although a huge chunk of them can still be self studied :)
