So, I recently built myself a new computer. When I turn it on all of the lights come on and all of the fans spin (both case fans and GPU fan) but my monitor goes completely black. It won't even boot into BIOS. There are no beeps from the motherboard, which DOES have the tiny speaker in it. What could be the problem? Also, I have checked the processor, and there are no bent pins. (Not that there are any pins to bend as it's an i7 5820k)
All parts are compatible
mthrbrd: asrock x99 extreme 4
prcssr: i7 5820k
ram: crucial 2x 8 GB DDR4
grphcs: nvidia GTX 970

I'm definitely no expert on computers. Could you expand on the whole need for four RAM sticks for me?

After reading the motherboard manual, I stand corrected in that it does support dual channel DDR4 as well as Quad channel.

However, you need to compare the model number of your ram against the supported memory listed here

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20Extreme4/?cat=Memory

What the manual isn't clear on is which slots you should install the memory when only using dual channel, I would suggest trying A1 + B1

Solution

Okay. Yeah, I've already made sure the ram is supported, and I've already tried all slots.
