Hello guys! This might seem a wierd issue bit this is whats going on. My specs are i5 4430, 16 RAM and i just installed my new GTX 770 4gb GPU with the proper fans to keep it cool. It's been exactly 1 week since i installed it, for the past 5 days or so its been running great, all my games maxed out with smooth FPS. For some reason, I now see some FPS drops, not massive but still, i can see a difference, GPU temp has never been above 84 and its usally at 60-75 (depending on the game) when im gaming. Drivers are all up to date.

Is there any way I can find out whats going on? This is the first time I own a dedicated GPU.

Thanks in advanced!

Hello again,

I'm glad you didn't get offended. Just to let you know MMO games tend to tax the CPU a lot and it's normal to see FPS drops in situations with loads of players around you.

But I do trust you when you say you can see the FPS drops - you have no reason to lie :)

Has your room temperature increased lately? If it's warmer now than it was a few days ago it could cause your CPU and/or GPU temps to get slightly higher too. If temps get to a certain level the hardware can throttle itself down (reducing clock speeds) to naturally reduce heat.

Maybe you could try downloading http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php and run it with tick on Sensors Only. Then play your games for 10-15 minutes or until you see the FPS drops and then...
Hello,

from your short description it sounds like it could be your imagination - I don't mean to offend you in any way. Just to make sure this isn't the case can you back it up with some evidence, not to convince us but just for your own sake? For example - 5 days ago you played a game A on a map/level B with another X number of players on it and you had C FPS. Today you play the exact same game A on the same map B with the same X number of players and the FPS today is D down from C?

I hope it doesn't sound confusing.

Other than that if your temps are good, if you haven't changed any hardware or drivers, etc. then I see no real reason for the frame drops.

Hey Mouldred, I understand your skepticism haha, i also think im hallucinating over here. Unfortunately, I dont have the FPS displayed on my screen when I play (I will from now on). The 2 games I play the most are War of the Vikings and Lord of the Rings Online, and in both Ive seen a slight decrease in FPS. As I said, I cant give specific numbers but Ive played all maps on Vikings on both ocasions and now I see FPS drops when there are more players on screen. As for LOTRO, I see a minor freeze, if you can call it that, whenever im walking in the map. Im sorry i cant provide more usefull info!

Thanks a bunch for your help and quick answers! Ill definetely check that link and I will try to get a video instead of a screenshot, if possible, if you want to check it out. CPU temp is almost always at 50-55. Again, thanks a lot for your help, video should be ready tomorrow!

You are welcome,

I'm haven't helped you much so far unfortunately.

Just to let you know it will be probably another 18 or so hours before I reply again as I tend to only check the forums while at work.
I hope you find a solution meanwhile.
