Recently slow before startup

Hey everyone,

PC specs:

i7 4770 3.4GHz
16GB RAM
GTX 1060 6GB GPU
SSD running Windows 10

Recently my computer has begun to hang a little before startup. It's that screen where you see the blue windows logo. Usually, I'd see that logo and then almost instantly see the little loading circle below it for a few seconds and then I'd be in. Now, it gets to the blue windows logo and it takes about 20 seconds or so for the loading circle to appear, giving me about a 40 second total boot time before I'm on my desktop.

I've checked the usual culprits:

  • Ran antivirus/malware scan (all clear)
    Checked space on OS drive (over 50% free)
    Disabled ALL startup programs (loading time was exactly the same)

Not sure what else to do at this point, aside from a clean install, which isn't ideal.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jim.

@Jim,
I also encountered this problem recently. Found Windows 10 Fall Creator updates has secretly turned back ON "Fast Startup".
After turning OFF "Fast Startup" & disable "Hibernation" my startup time returns to normal. Hope this helps.... John

This was enabled on my PC as well, but turning it off actually made it slower, so that isn't the issue. Thank you for the help, though.
