I'm trying to build a gaming PC capable of recording at 1080p and 30 FPS whilst running at a Stable 60 FPS minimum, right now I'm looking at a i7-5820K, is that total overkill? Would I be able to get away with a i5-6600K?

If you get an Nvidia GPU, you can use shadowplay (bundled free with Nvidia drivers). It uses the GPU more than CPU for recording gameplay so uses WAY less resource. an i5 and gtx 970 or above will play and record at 60fps 1080p.

Hell, with shadowplay I get 50fps record and play on high/ultra in most games at 1080p, and thats with an FX8370 and gtx 960 lol.

edit - forgot I put a vid of MGSV on youtube at 1080p 60fps with my cheap setup, for proof lol

MGS V: Lets play

Depends on the CPU, If I get an i5 i would probably get a 980, if I get an i7 I would probably get a 960.

Does it record microphone audio?

yes, you can set it to either constantly record, or just when you hold down space bar. I get literally double the FPS with recording with shadowplay than I did with FRAPS

What about editing? is it easy to export to a video editor?
