Hi all. I bought my new PC a while ago, and i'm really happy with it. I'd love to get some more out of the CPU, an FX-8350. I know this chip can be overclocked well and give good results, but im not sure how to go about it.

It has a CM Hyper 612 air cooler (It's huge!), an AsRock 990FX K1ller Motherboard, 8gb of G.Skill Ares RAM and a Windforce GTX 980.

Now my questions.

I have AMD OverDrive and HWMonitor to monitor temps etc.

1-In HWMonitor, is the "CPUTIN" temp important? If so what should it NOT go above?

2- Is the Hyper 612 okay to OC this CPU on?

3- What sort of OC can i get out of this?

4-The "Thermal Margin" in AMD OverDrive, is that important?

5- Recommend me some base settings, what multiplier, what voltage?

6- How do i test these effectively to make sure it's stable?

Sorry for all the questions i don't want to kill my computer 😛

EXTRA DETAILS- The CPU is running at 4.0GHz, at 1.3125V. According to HWMonitor in a ~18*C room i have an idle temp of 23.

THANKYOU!!!

I played it for maybe an hour and a half. All temps seemed okay. What temps am i looking for and what should they be?

4.3 seemed okay, might try 4.5

Just look at Temperature Margin, don't let it drop to 10c or less. Core, no more than 60c after longer use. Watch those Vid voltages too. If you want good, stable OC, set everything on manual in BIOS and turn off all those power saving states, C&Q and such.
