Recommend a Gaming Monitor for GTX 1080?

I have a 970 and am thinking about upgrading GPU and monitor; I'm thinking about upgrading to GTX 1080 and a gaming monitor that is 1440p.

The best gaming experience available today is on the 17" 165Hz IPS panels made by AU Optronics. You can find the 8 bit color one on the Asus PG279Q ($750) and the 10 bit color one on the Aver XB271HU ($700). Dropping down to a TN panel, you could get a PG278Q ($620) or an Acer XB241YU ($500)

I'll spend less than $1,000 USD for the monitor. That doesn't include tax. I'm thinking 27", IPS and 144 Hz.
