Recommend a smaller desktop monitor with very high pixel density?

Hi,
I'd like to get a new monitor, something along the lines of a 4k monitor. I have a macbook pro retina and that display is really phenomenal.
In comparison, most desktop monitors really suck, both with color accuracy and pixel density. I would like a 4k monitor, but I don't want a huge one.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive high pixel density monitor that is around 19"? I wouldn't get much use from a larger screen.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there just isn't a large market for that type of display - you can find plenty of 1080p displays around that size but the smallest external 4k display I have seen on the consumer market is about 24". If you were an engineer and hated yourself, you could always order a 4k panel intended for replacing a laptop screen (most are in the 15.6" variety - could also look at a retina display for a MBP but haven't seen anyone tinker with one of those) and frankenstein that with a monitor stand/power supply/display cable converter. There are some tutorials out there but it isn't to be undertaken lightly.
