Question Recommend a storage media for 2TB of data.

I want to store 2TB of data. It is a write once read many times situation. The storage media will be for cold storage, it will rarely be used and almost always kept in a drawer. Since the data is not that important to me, I don't want to have two copies of the data..I also want the most durable and reliable storage media , Which one of the following options is the best way to go forward with:?

1. 2TB external HDD.

2. 2TB external SSD.

3. 20x 100GB BluRay discs.

You want reliable, but two copies are not desired. Thst makes no sense.
Two HDDs would be the cheap and reliable approach.

Cheap 2 HDD, use one and put the other away in a safe. Plug it in once a year just to make sure data is still there.
2 SSD do same as HDD use one, other in storage and plugged in once a year to keep data on drive. Also dont have to worry as much if knocked over or dropped for G-shock like HDD.

I've replaced scores of internal HD and SSD with Samsung EVO or Pro Series SSDs. The current series is 870, and I've never seen an internal Samsung SSD fail. They offer T Series external SSD (USB-C native), which ships with both 3.1 and USB-C cables. The T7 external 2TB is currently less than $200 via many vendors. Choice of colors, too.

My 840 Series (~2010) is still in daily service.

You say you don't want two copies of the data, but want the most reliable/durable solution.

Kanewolf is correct. Given that you can get two decent quality two TB HDDs for about the price of a single two TB SSD, the first option is obviously the more reliable/durable one.

I didn't mention it in my first post, but if you can store one of those two copies at a different physical location (friend's house, etc) then you protect yourself with "off site" backup. That protects against theft and fire..
