Recommend A System

I'm looking at two systems. Both ASUS MB with Intel Pentium P4s.

1) P4P800SE with the P4 478 2.66GHz
OR
2) P4P800E Deluxe with the P4 Prescott 2.8GHz

I plan to add a 350W power supply and 1 GB of memory

I want to use with my existing drives (Ultra/ATA-100) and my AGP video
card.
The primary use will be business applications and Photoshop editing.

Can you give me some advice:

* Does one of these systems make more sense (should I avoid the
Prescott)?

* Will my old devices work with either of these systems?

* Is there something else I should consider in the configuration?

* Which memory type/brand is best?

Thanks.

My graphics card is a 'Winfast/Leadtek' A310 (GeForce FX5200)

Do I need to replace?

Thanks

The Prescott CPU will be just fine with either of those motherboards.
The P4P800E DX has extra features such as firewire,
8-channel sound, support of more drives with an extra
Promise ATA RAID controller.

Yes, unless you have an older AGP video card which may
not fit. What make and model is it?

1GB of RAM is a good amount for Photoshop and nothing
else is as important.

We are a dealer and have had good luck with Corsair, Geil and
Kingston PC3200 modules.

No, that will be fine - it is what I use with dual monitors (not leadtek,
but fx5200).
For 2D grpahics, this is about as good as you get unless you want to look
round for a Matrox card. They apparantly are best at 2d grphics.
