Recommend a temporary NVIDIA card

I'm building my first PC soon and with the rumored delay of the 700 and 8000 series cards to Q4 I've decided not to wait for them. I was planning on getting a GTX 680, but now I'd rather get a cheaper card and upgrade to Maxwell in 2014. So I could use some recommendations for a card to get until that time.

Budget: $1800-$2000 for the whole computer, but this was planning on a 680.

Current GPU: I currently have nothing but a keyboard and mouse. I plan on getting the Asus 24" 144Hz monitor, a full tower case, a Cooler Master 212+, a dependable power supply to last me years and years and a 3570k CPU.

Purpose: Exclusively gaming on a single monitor at 1920x1080. I'm going to play games of all spectrums like League of Legends, WoW, Witcher 2, Skyrim, Crysis 3, etc... and I would like to max (or close to it) any game that comes out until the Maxwell release if possible. I plan on light/medium overclocking; anything that can be safely managed with air cooling.

I was thinking about the 660Ti. Basically I want good performance and a price that can be replaced in a little over a year without wasting money. Please share all of your opinions of my plan and thank you!

As an update, I'll be getting the SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W PSU because it's on sale for $100 at Newegg.

yeah ....the 660ti is a helluva performer and it'll fulfill your requirement to the fullest......
you can max almost everything at 1080p and still extract playable frame rates....

I've been thinking the same thing with the delays. I've been thinking about either the Tahiti based 5870's or the 660 TI. Currently I'm leaning towards the 5870's due to the price which would also make Xfire in the future cheaper if I decide to go that route instead of jumping on the new cards right away.

Edit: I meant 7870 Tahiti based cards, my bad. I have a 5870.

for crossfiring get an hd 6870....
newer and better tech.....plus better driver supports lately.....
definitely u should go this route because u straightaway cannot jump to newer gpus....

of course go with the 7870's in crossfire....they are just great........

I would go with a GTX 560 or 6850 as they are cheap perform well and when you upgrade you will have more cash to spend ton the next gen gpu's coming out this year.
