I built a system little over a year ago. Asus P5W DH Deluxe, Intel E6600, Antec P180 Case, Antec 550W True Power II, MSI XT1900XT 512mb Video card, and Cosair DDR2 667 PC2 5300 2mb ram.

The power supply fried and it seems the MB is gone.

My question is, are there better boards available since I purchased my Asus? I really do not need the "latest", just a good friendly board and am not that brand driven.

Thanks for any help...........

What do you need out of the system?

I presume no SLI?
Do you need FireWire?
External Sata?
Raid?

My guess is no to all of those.
The Gigabyte P35-DS3L is a decent board and comes in at under $100.

Asus has a three year warranty on motherboards. You don't even need to be the original purchaser or have proof of purchase. They use the serial number to decide if you're still under warranty.

The only issue with this is i found out a few months back is they take the mobo's manufacture date not purchase date... so if some dodgey retailer has it in stock for 6months you only "technically" get 2year 6months warranty (ASUS allow for a little leway)
