Kingston HyperX Impact or G.skill Ripjaws, both at 3200mhz should be good

I installed this
Crucial 32GB Kit (2x16GB)
DDR4 - 3200 SODIMM

and right away the OS freezes within seconds or a minute or so of booting up. I put my old memory back in and it's fine.
I believe I installed it correctly.

I didn't see anything in the BIOS that I had to adjust

Device Maintenance does say it has 32GB

Is 3200 too much? (In the bios I see 2666 when I had the new ram installed, so I wondered if this was telling me 2666 is the only way to go, but I'm uncertain).
