Recommendation for buying a CPU

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend me good CPU for HP dc7900 minitower (LGA 775 socket).
I already have 8 GB Ram and a decent GPU so I'm looking to upgrade my Core2Duo E8400 (3.0 Ghz) CPU.
I'm guessing that a quad core should be best,but not sure which one can I install.

My question is:
Are there any BIOS limitations to it or do I just have to worry about the type of socket?

There isn't really anything you could upgrade to that would be worth the trouble. You're looking at a 9 year old socket type, so whatever your system is doing for you, it's doing it as well as it's going to. What specifically are you looking to upgrade your PC for?

Besides the usual like browsing Internet and watching videos I like to play a few games (Dota 2 and CS Go mostly).
I also have a good deal from a friend to buy a q9500 core2quad 2.83 Ghz cpu but I'm not sure if my bios or PC in general will support it. Why do you think? Is it it a worthy upgrade and can I even upgrade to this cpu?
