In these weeks is possible buy a new PC Desktop, about the processors
  • Processor Intel Core i5-10400, 2.90 GHz, 12 MB Caché L3, LGA1200, 65W, 14 nm.
  • Processor Intel Core i7-10700, 2.90 GHz, 16 MB Caché L3, LGA1200, 65W, 14 nm.
  • Processor Intel Core i5-11400 2.60 / 4.40 GHz, 12 MB Caché L3, LGA1200, 65W, 14 nm.
  • Processor Intel Core i7-11700 2.50 / 4.90 GHz, 16 MB Caché L3, LGA1200, 65W, 14 nm.
What could be your best recommendation and why?

The purpose is use the PC for Developing only for Linux Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 and forward (VirtualBox is going to be used to load Virtual Machine for Ubuntu Server) - Java and Spring Framework are going to be used too.

Thank You.

Thanks for the reply, but according of the shared list, what should be selected?

According with some opinions for example:
  • i5 gen 12 should be faster than i7 gen 5 (a simple example - perhaps is not valid - the point is share the idea)
Is there an official table of comparisons - of Intel - where shows all the processors from i3 to i9 with their generations to have a straight comparison among them?

As you are not gaming , or editing/processing videos, I doubt the extra speed (or lack thereof) is necessarily noticeable from a developer perspective...(actual programmers /developers might provide better insight, we'd hope!)

A 12th gen 12400 is quite popular these days as well, if any deals available, and, likely about as fast in most things than even the 11700...; otherwise, go with 11700, it's couple extra cores over the other options should provide increased longevity, and/or be better for adding a few more virtual machines.
