Hi guys i would like to seek a recommendation since i will be buying my new set on December.

Im confused whether to buy the i7 4790K or the i5 4690K, price difference is quite high.

Usage: Primarily for Gaming (Dota 2, Diablo 3, NBA 2K15 and Heavy Duty Games
(ea Battlefield 4, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc...)

Preferrence: I would be playing it on Max/High Settings and Full Screen.

Overclocking??: NO, I wont be overclocking it since i really dont want to stress my set.

MoBo: ASUS B85 Pro Gamer
GPU: ASUS GTX 760 2GB 256Bit DDR5
SSD: Transcend 128GB SSD
HDD: Western Digital 1TB
RAM: 1866MHz Corsair Vengeance 8GB
PSU: Corsair VS 650W

I really some help to somewhat narrow down my specs since im not really sure for the CPU.
And if you guys can recommend another spec on my set would be great. Thanks!!

Solution
You can't run either on that board, also getting a "k" cpu doesn't make the slightest sense if you don't intend to overclock (or can't due to motherboard). Your choice should either be a z97 board and an i5 4690k, given you decide to overclock, or a h81/b85/h87/h97 board and an i5 4590/4670 or 4690k (only with h97 board or bios update). Just get the one with the better price.

Aside of that, you should wait for the gtx 960 to release. It's mostlikely going to be way stronger than the 760 but won't cost more.

I had the same choice between the two processors, but personally I believe that there is no need for the i7, when the i5 can do just as much and sometimes even better in some circumstances. The processors can run on the motherboard you have, I'm not too sure why it wouldn't. If you don't intend to overclock that's fine, but there are options to if you go ahead with either processors. I have the i5 and I can tell you it works like a treat, not had any problems with it.

I personally recommend the i5 as it's cheaper and does the job fittingly!

Hope this helps, thanks, Robbie.

But then again he may change his mind in the future, and it only costs a a tiny bit extra so he may as well if he wants to.

Wow!~ Thanks for the reply guys...

i don't plan overclocking ever since i'm not really confident in doing so.

oic so i really need to change my MoBo gonna look for another one then and do more research about that and see recommendations from u guys again.

just to add again the only difference for "K" variant is only for the option for OC nothing else? we have a GTX 960 now but gonna check the prices for that here locally and i plan to upgrade after 2 years like what im doing now.

My only purpose for this is really just gonna play for games nothing more and watching video but it does not matter.

Well, normally the K version have a little faster clocks, like the 4790k comes at 0.4Ghz higher clock than the 4790 if I'm not mistaken, but basically the main difference is on the unlocked multipliers to overclock, yes.
