I had a 1TB HDD die recently and I'm looking to upgrade my storage. I'm looking at getting an nvme to clone my os as a boot but I was hoping to add more storage as well. On pc part picker I was seeing some 2TB nvme drives at ~$230 but I was curious if doing a 1TB one for closer to $100 and getting a ~4TB HDD for $50-100 would be a better idea. I don't have any experience using SSD caching but it seemed like it might be a good use of my current 120gb SSD in conjunction with another larger drive.

Also, any good/bad product recommendations are appreciated.

Uses: Mostly gaming and I don't really like having to redownload games in my steam library. I'm an engineer so possibly CAD models, IDEs and similar files as well.

I currently have:
Intel SSDSC2CW120A -120gb Sata as boot drive
Seagate ST200DM001 - 2TB HDD
Gigabyte z390 aorus pro -Motherboard
Ripjaw V 2x8gb DDR4RAM
i7-9700k
GTX1080
