Build Advice Recommendations for parts for gaming ?

hi i have a Z97 Pro Gamer motherboard and i was looking into getting a i7-4790k and a GTX 1080 but idk if that is a good match for gaming. I just need some tips as I'm new to this PC stuff. I just need some suggestions for the best gaming build.​

I know that's an old motherboard, I just need the best components I can put on it so I can game.​

I don't really have a budget for parts i bought a pc from someone but it has a z97 pro gamer motherboard but I need to know what's the best gpu and CPU I can get for it i just want a decent budget pc for gaming i looking at a gtx 1080 and a i7 4790k and it said that that is a decent build for 1080p gaming

If you want to blow your mood down when gaming then use these parts.
If you have enough budget, buy 12100f with rx6600 instead

That would be adequate for up to full HD gaming, except for the OP also needing a different motherboard.
