Hi,

Inherited a Memory Stick with a red substance adhering to the contacts.

1st tried a clean rubber eraser but did not easily come off eaven with hard rubbing.

Then thought it may be spilled red wine but did not easily disolve when used a cotton tip with water.

Now am wondering if could be red nail polish?

To date have not found if acetone can harm the memory stick.

Googled using key words: acetone harm "memory stick" and seems can cause problems with some plastics.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Made some photos after was unable to completely remove this red substance. Would like to share if someone will tell me how to post photos on this forum.

Thanks

Ken

Do not use acetone. Try isopropyl alcohol.

If that doesn't work, then you might try a very fine bristled small wire brush like they sell at Harbor Freight, automotive parts stores and home centers.

Obviously you will want to keep from contacting other parts of the module, only the gold teeth should be brushed and not too vigorously.
