After moving to another apartment, internet speeds went from 100mbps to 20mbps with verizon fios. I looked into it and its because of interference on the 2.4ghz. All of the devices connected 5ghz is fine. I disconnected the verizon provided router and used a netgear 6220 router. I get around 30 to 40mbps with it on 2.4ghz now atleast. But I would like to get the most out of my connection.

I cannot run cables. I tried a older tp link power line and it had less then 10mbps connection, I assume different circuits from those rooms.

I have not tried using a router as a repeater, yet.

would you recommend trying a new powerline, the one I tried was a 3 year old tp link 500mb kit. They have gigabit kits now. or would you recommend using a wireless repeater? I've herd that 2.4ghz maxes out at 72mbps and by using a repeater it cuts that in half, so I wouldnt be able to get above 40mbps with that anyway. Is that true?

Thank you!

Newer powerlines are also a lot better than older ones.

Can you test your power line with a wired connection to see if it's the bottleneck or if it's the wifi.

Check your channel band settings to see if it's configured for bandwidth. You may be using a narrow channel. Speeds can go up a lot with wider channels and mimo support.
