I am looking to put together a windows workstation primarily for audio work, and secondarily for video. I won't be doing any crazy video work. Mainly putting together an instructional guitar video, pieced together from various takes. My current system is a few years old (based on a quad core Q6600) with fast drives and memory (at the time). It is still quite good for audio, but video work is pretty poor. Ideally I would do this for under $2000. So I need advice on

- CPU (and quiet cooler)
- HDD and SDD configuration (details - recommended, quiet drives to cover OS/programs, audio, video)
- Memory
- Power (quiet)
- Motherboard
- Quiet case
- Video card (quiet)

Since my MB and case are a few years old, I am thinking my current setup is obsolete and that new CPUs require MBs that won't fit my case.

Thanks!
Brian

Here is a powerhouse build that comes in under budget. I went with a 6-core CPU, 16GB of RAM, and two SSDs. You can use one SSD for the OS and programs and the other as a scratch drive. The CPU and RAM will work well for video editing. The Noctua CPU cooler uses one 140mm fan and one 120mm fan that run at low RPM to keep it quiet.
