Question Recommended GPUs - 4 x 4k & 2 x HD

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade the GPUs in my computer system so that I can run all 4 of my main displays at 4k and the other 2 at 1080p. Currently I'm running 5 of the 6 displays at 1080p and 1 on 4k using 2 x R9 290 cards.

I'm a full time day trader and would like to take advantage of the extra screen real estate that running 3 of the other 4k monitors at 4k would give. I only casually game so would be nice to use 1 of the 4k screens to game on from time to time. In most cases this computer will be used for trading, internet, and emails.

To future proof the rig I was thinking of replacing the old GPUs with 2 x 2080 GPUs. Would this do the trick for what I'm trying to accomplish or could I go lower or have to go higher with the GPU specs (ie. 2 x 2070 or 2 x 2080ti)?

My other computer specs are as follows:

AMD 2800x CPU
AIO 240mm water cooler
A470 Taichi MB
16GB of 3200mb ram
500gb Samsung Evo SSD
1200W Platinum PSU

Thanks for any help or insight in advance!

You can't SLI RTX 2070's....Nvidia has limited SLI support to RTX 2080 series and above only. As a 4K gamer myself i would say getting 2 RTX 2080's would be good for 4K gaming (I run 2 GTX 1080s myself). Some compromises will still need to be made though to hit 60fps and beyond in some games. 2 RTX 2080Ti's would be ideal assuming your willing to deal with the short comings of SLI...

Thanks for the reply. 4k gaming is only a 'nice to have for me'. The priority is have the 4 primary monitors running at 4k resolution for trading (ie. charts, trading windows) and the 2 x 1080p monitors for email/internet very stable. None of the trading software is very intensive I just need the resolutions running smoothly.

Everytime I've tried this with the r9 290s (ie. more than 1 x 4k monitor) I get system freezes at points..etc..

Further thoughts?
