Strictly gaming, the i7-8700K is the best performer........ but I don't suggest it represents a great value.

To make the i7-8700K work, you'd have to cut other corners (case, cooler, GPU to make it work within budget).

If you intend to play at higher resolutions (1440p or 4K), the CPU become less of a concern.
