I was looking for a wireless gaming headset that will work with my laptop and my smartphone. I would like to be able to play games, listen to movies and also take calls. I also would like to be able to use them as stand alone bluetooth headset with my smartphone due to canceling out outside noise.

I have looked at several models and threads but a lot of them are wireless to the pc but require corded to the phone. I also have read on the logictech g930 there are build flaws from reviews. It seams like the turtle beach px51 might work but not sure. As far as price i am trying to keep under 200 so that keeps out the Astro A50 and Turtle Beach 800 Elete.

It would be nice for the surround sound but if my research is right it will only work on the pc that way do to the sound sampling and I would not be able to change soundcard due to being a laptop. I do not mind if no surround sound on phone.

Thanks in advance,
David

UPDATE: I may not have worded the above correctly. I would enjoy surround sound and if have to connect to usb for that I understand. What I would like is a wireless capabable (either bluetooth or 2.4/5 Ghz) and bluetooth so that I can connect to computer and phone without cords at times. I do not mind using a cord but there are times either when going to bed or need to be mobile that I would like to not use the cord. I know I may lose some features (i.e. surround sound) but at least good stereo.

here is a vid for the ZXR (highest model) which is compatible with Apple ipod, iphone, ipad, Andriod, PC, and Mac. For computer you have to use a wire and bluetooth or cable to smartphone, but i think you should be able to use bluetooth with computer.

And all pages for the wireless bluetooth headsets say they support the same bluetooth, which means all the wireless evos are bluetooth compatible with phone and no usb. If you see the pages below, you will notice that the bluetooth capabilities are the same, so they will all work

Sorry if i sound all over the place.

I found a pair of evo Zx at a bestbuy near me (ZxR's seemed too much) but the bluetooth connection to laptop is difficult to get working at times and I am not thrilled about having to be wired to use the full surround sound that it offers only via usb. i may end up returning and just waiting until i can get something else

There are no wireless headsets with surround that work on smart phones that I know of. The Corsair Vengeance 2100 is wireless with surround, but does not work with smart phones. You may be able to connect the adapter with an OTG adapter, but that may not work and you will not get surround sound. The Creative Evo headsets only have surround via USB, and will not work through bluetooth unless you have a bluetooth adapter on your PC.

There isn't much reason for surround on your phone anyway, it's all virtual and intended for gaming and finding out where people are, it actually sounds worse than stereo for music. I would suggest not going for wireless, as nice as it is, because it just doesn't fit your needs. There's the Corsair 2100 which is wireless with surround on the PC, but can't be used with your phone. The Creative EVO would be wired to your PC and wireless with your phone. It's going to be wired to something, and switching like that is annoying.

Something like the Steelseries headsets would be good. I'm going to use the Elite Prism as an example because I'm using it right now. It has a 4 foot cable that works well with a phone in your pocket. From that connector, you have a few more cables, an extension, a splitter for green and pink, a USB sound card, and a 4 pole connector that allows you to use it with smart phones. My setup is my computer to the USB sound card to the extension that I have the headset plugged into. If I want to use it with my phone, I just unplug it from the extension, attach the 4 pole connector, and plug it into my phone. It makes it easy to switch, I have a nice comfortable headset with surround sound for my computer, and a good headset for making calls on my phone. I also have a Creative Sound Blaster Evo Zx, which I need to unplug from my computer and pair with my phone every time I want to use it, and it takes quite a bit more time. I honestly don't mind having a 4 foot cable with my phone, it's not long enough to get tangled, and it's easy to tuck under your shirt. The cable is flat so it doesn't tangle at all, either.

There are a couple options for Steelseries. The best they have is the Elite Prism, a newer model of the pretty awful Elite. The Elite had issues with just about everything, it was uncomfortable, the sound quality was bad, and the mic was huge. The Prism came out with their new line earlier this month with the Siberia V3, Siberia V3 Prism, and Raw Prism headsets. The Raw Prism is the cheapest, I think it's like $60, it's just a basic gaming headset with some cool color changing lights. The Siberia V3 is an updated model of the Siberia V2, which is one of the most popular headsets out. The V3 Prism is the same thing but with customizable lighting. Then you have the Elite Prism, which has better speakers, a similar mic, and surround sound.

I had the Corsair 2000, which is the same as the 2100 but with swivel mounts that tended to break (guess why I replaced mine) and I really enjoyed the wireless, but the battery still died after 8 to 10 hours and then you'd have to have it plugged in for 4 hours anyway. It didn't really add much, I could get up from my computer and walk around while listening to music, but now I can just plug my headphones into my phone and do that.

Updated original posting. I am not looking for surround sound through phone but would be nice through wireless (2.4 or 5) and bluetooth connectivity for phone so I do not miss calls. Sometimes I need to be able to move around and not use a cord and I know that I may lose some features not connected by cord, but I would like that option

i am trying the Evo Zx right now but I have to do reconnect/disables a few times to get it to pass sound through and have updated firmware, usb drivers (even removed/re-installed), sometimes it is a hassle to get them to work. If they worked right when turned on then would be fine but sometimes is a hassle and creatives customer service/tech support has been less than impressive, my laptop has bluetooth natively installed.

I was reading up on some people having issue and installing a third-party bluetooth stack and ran across one program that looks great but do not feel comfortable spending 30 on something I cannot try first
