So I own this PC:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k @ 4.0 Ghz
CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Pure Rock
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
Memory: HyperX Furry 8GB DDR3 2x4GB
SSD_1: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
SSD_2: Adata SP900 128GB
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB
Video Card: Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970 (+100 Mhz Core Clock, +150 Mhz Memory Clock )
Case: NZXT H440
Power Supply: Cooler Master G650M
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

It has been 2 years since I've built this system and I have in mind an upgrade sometime this summer, but I'm not quite sure what to change. The current color scheme is black/red but I want to make the transition to black/white. My budget is around 500 to 600 euros. Thank you in advance! :)

Thats a good gaming rig, if you feel the need to upgrade you can swap that i5 for an i7 4790k and if you have a good monitor you can go for a 1080 - 1080Ti, maybe go for 16Gb of ram.

in order if it was my pc:
1st 16Gb Ram.
2nd i74970k.
3rd 1070 or 1080Ti (depending on how much i can spare and if i have a 2k monitor)

I do already feel the need for 16GBs but is it worth it to move to DDR4 or should I stay with DDR3? Regarding the screen, I use a 1080p TV as a monitor and I don't think I'll change anytime soon.

swapping from ddr3 to ddr4 is not worth it imo, because you have a pretty new (even 2 years) system the amount of money you´ll have to spend to notice any improvements at all is insane and probably not noticeable. And for the monitor you have dont go anything above a gtx1070 going for a 1080 would be 2 expensive and non beneficial over the 1070.

I´d go for the ram upgrade and see how it feels, after that i would go for the i7 if there´s a game or app you could benefit from the hyperthreading but right now you have a pretty good system it should run most games just fine.

Sounds good, should I go for two more sticks of 4GB or a whole new set of 2x8GB?
