Hello. So I recently got a small used Dell laptop for $180 for college. I am going to use it to browse the web, multitasking between 6-8 tabs, Word Documents, Local Lossless Music (not much) and/or HD Youtube. Here are the specs:

Dell Inspiron 11 (3137)
11.6 in Touchscreen
Intel® Pentium 3556U [@1.7 GHz]
500 GB HDD [5,400 RPM]
4 GB DDR3L RAM [1600 MHz]
3 Cell Battery

Seeing as how my upgrade options are limited, it is between replacing the HDD with a Solid State Drive or replacing the RAM with 8 GB. I only have a budget of $70 (give or take $10) since I am a college student on a REALLY tight budget. The good thing is that this thing is designed to be upgradable, so that's nice.

If you recommend an SSD, which one would you recommend around $70 (Preferably on Amazon)?

It has to have at least 240 GB and be durable. Since there are so many SSD in the market, I can't decide.

All honest and on topic answers will be appreciated. Thanks.

Since you can't get an ssd WITH a hdd into the laptop, I would opt for the ram upgrade. It will allow you significantly more tabs and helps with multitasking.

$70 will only get you a decent and durable 120GB ssd. For the 240gb ssd you will need to step up to $90 at least, and frankly that 240GB will get filled up really fast and you will end up needing an external hdd.So while an ssd will dramatically decrease boot and load times, I would not recommend that upgrade on a tight budget.
