Hello,I cannot program future tv shows on my Digital Magnavox (w/tuner)
VHS/DVD combo recorder. Model#ZV457MG9 A, with the comcast converter.

Solution

Anything you route through the cable box will just get that signal, which means whatever channel it's tuned to. To record from there you need to get a DVR system from them, which is just a VCR using a hard-drive with better quality.
This does not sound like a Windows Vista issue. And brings to mind about 20 jokes about VCR programming.

What happens when you try to do this? How is the VCR hooked up to the system? Are you trying to make it change the channel, turn on the cable box, etc... or just start recording.

1.The wall cable goes to the Comcast converter.
2. using the abc cables from the Digital converter to DVD/VCR unit's record IN matching the color coded plugs to the jacks.
3. Hooked up a second ABC cable from the DVD/VCR unit's AV OUT to the TV's input jacks on the back of the TV set.
I have a Magnavox DVD/VCR combo recorder W/ tuner
I want to record future programs with the converter. I can playback Tapes and discs but I cannot record anything.

The way you have it setup, you need to have the cable box on and tuned to the station you want to record, then you can set the timer on the VCR to start recording when you want. You will not be able to switch channels using the VCR. The only way you can manage that, is to get a coax splitter, split the signal from the wall between the VCR and the cable box, and then use the VCR tuner to record. But that will only get you the unscrambled channels.
