Recording in 1440p

With an i5-2400 @3.10Ghz, 8.gb RAM and a GTX 950 GPU can I record on a 14410p monitor?

Sure.

Record what though? Recording adds quite a bit of load and is going to hit your FPS hard.
But short answer is yes, absolutely.

I record 2008 versions of Tiger Woods Golf and Madden Football that are modded to bring them up to date and would like to get the best picture quality that this rig would get me. I was hoping that a 2560 x 1440p monitor would help a lot? These are the last of there kind for the PC and I don't have any plans on buying console versions at this time.
BTW, are some of the newer games better optimized for recording?
