recording straight to a pc

Hi, I have a samsung camcorder with hdmi and av port. How can I use the camcorder to record videos straight to my pc?

You need to connect the camcorder to a 'capture device' (card) and then connect the capture device to the PC. I used Hauppauge HVR-1950 (newer models available now) in order to do this. I used this instead of a PCI card so that I can easily transfer the capture device from one computer to another.
