Recover deleted files from WD My Book Live

I have a WD My Book Live external hard drive connected directly to a wireless router. I would like to recover some deleted files from it. The software applications I found so far all assume a direct connection to the external storage through USB. Any suggestions on how I can recover the files over a wireless network?

I'm afraid you'll have to try recovering those files by connecting the drive directly to your computer, because otherwise the data recovery software would not be able to detect it. Did you have any issues with the HDD or those are just files you (or someone else) have deleted by mistake?

Someone deleted a number of files by mistake. Unfortunately, the WD My book live does not have a USB port that I can connect to. It only has an ethernet port to connect directly to the router.

Sorry about the mistake on my part. Apparently I was thinking about My Book for some reason. Take a look at this thread and the offered solution: http://community.wd.com/t5/My-Book-Live/Data-recover-on-a-My-Book-Live-2TB-HELP/td-p/430120. It seems to have worked for most of the users.
