Recover MAC files onto a PC

I have a Mac hard drive from a Macbook Pro that does not work. I connected it externally to my PC and tried to copy the files over and keep getting cyclic redundancy checks.

So now I need to perform a recovery but none of my recovery software will allow me to recover from a mac onto a PC. Does anyone know of a good program that will allow me to recover these files? I tried using VirtualLab but the trial will not let me sample the recovery and is too costly for something that might not work.

The Mac is HFS+ format.

Thank you everyone for your help!

Thank you for your response

I am not trying to write onto the HFS+. I am simply trying to copy all my files onto my PC.

I am able to access the HFS+ on my Windows XP computer using Paragon HFS+ for Windows.

Hi
Is it the Mac book that is broken or its hard disk .?

Booting up a Linux system such as parted magic will probably give you access to data files on the mac disk provided the disk is not physically damaged.

I never tried mac hfs+ but I tried this out on a tv recorder which was dead (Linux FS)

I assume you want free stuff rather than specific Mac to PC software or pay an expert

Thank you both for your responses!

klll4, I understand what you're telling me. I didn't even think about that; thanks for clearing that up for me.

I didn't know Linux can do that. I will have to remember that for the future.

However, it is the hard drive that's broken and not the Mac Book. The Mac works fine but all the files can't be accessed because it has been corrupted.

Yes, I prefer free software. I installed VirtualLab Recovery which accessed the partitions but did not let me recover my files during the free trial. I purchased the software and now it won't let me access the partition. Now I have to fight with them to get a refund.

edit: Haven't seen anymore responses on this subject. If I install and boot up Linux, is there a recovery software on Linux that will allow me to recover my files from the HFS+ hard drive?

I forgot about this post!

Thank you for the help and the suggestion. I tried about 20 different programs and the only one that actually worked for me was a program called UFS Explorer. It turned out to be an excellent and reliable program and I've used it quite a bit now. So if anyone else has the same problem, now you know what you can do :)
