Hi folks...
I am trying to recover the windows 7 password for my friends Dell Inspiron N5030 laptop. She has a total of 4 user accounts. I found this on the web:
boot to my windows 7 disk, get a dos prompt, then type this:
copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\
[enter]
copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe
When I type the first command, it says something like "file not found". I have typed it over and over. So I know it was not a typo.
I see all kinds of software for sale that will recover the password, but I am on the broke side and would like to find a solution with out buying software to do this.
I have two computers at home, but both are now running windows 10. I do have my original Windows 7 disk. My friend has no disk and has no idea what her product ID was.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
