recover/reinstall windows xp without any discs that came with the computer

My Dell optiplex 320 won't boot windows XP. It starts set up then asks for sp 2 installation disc. I don't have any of the discs that go to that computer

Have you tried contacting Dell? XP is long ago obsolete (and no longer safe) and they may not have a copy available to issue you, but it's worth a try.

You could also check ebay for Dell versions of XP for sale.

Alternative: Since you are doing a clean install of the OS anyway, why not use this opportunity to move up to at least Win7?

Check to make sure that the Hard Drive is set as the primary boot option and not a installation CD.
